We had been working with Nancy Johnson at Adoption Services of Spokane for a few months – she partners closely with Mark Iverson and his team. On June 12, Nancy sent us a text that a boy had been born, the birth parents wanted to terminate their parental rights, and they had chosen us to be his parents. It was a whirlwind day – within an hour of getting the confirmation call, we were at the hospital with our son!

We stayed with Kam in the hospital for another week and brought him home on Father’s Day. It was an amazing, emotional, and uplifting time. Mark Iverson and paralegal Sarah worked quickly to have initial documents processed. They helped us easily understand legal requirements, and Mark moderated the final court hearing, which was done by Zoom, in a caring and compassionate manner. Kam has brought a joy and love to our lives that is indescribable. Our families and friends have come together in loving support of our son – he’s united all of us even more tightly. We are so thankful to his birth parents for making their courageous decision, and we are grateful for Nancy and Bette at Adoption Services of Spokane, and Mark and Sarah for helping make it all happen.
