Thank you to you and your team for helping us through this adoption process. We had no idea what the process entailed in the beginning but we always had faith that what was best for Travis would b
I met my son Tharen when he was 2 years old. I had started dating my now husband, Tharen’s father in 2008 and he began a custody battle about a month after. My husband was granted custody of Tharen and that’s how I became a mom. Tharen had just turned 3, he was undiagnosed but nonverbal and needed full time care so I stopped working and we became a family. It all happened very quickly but there was no chance I would ever leave that little boy.
Over the last almost 13 years, through diagnosis, therapy, school IEP’s, and all life’s challenges, I have loved and raised Tharen; he is my boy and I have done everything I can to be the mom he deserves. Tharen is now also a big brother to 2 younger siblings who adore him and he them . Our world was finally complete April 23, 2021 when I was able to officially adopt him.
Mark Iverson’s office was amazing to work with. The biological mom was finally willing to sign her rights away (after years of only random phone calls or letters) when her own mother helped us explain how it was in T’s best interest as he is getting closer to adulthood and he will need his Dad and I to care for him throughout his entire life. Mark’s office was ready the next day to meet the bio mom and have papers ready! They connected us with the guardian ad litem and the post placement reporter we needed due to our son’s inability to cognitively understand this adoption. Communication from Iverson’s office and personnel office was excellent. They took all the stress of this ordeal off my shoulders. Nothing could have gone more smoothly and it was completed quickly.
e the end result. The amended birth certificate arrived yesterday and cemented it all!! We appreciate your efforts more than you know!
