Adoption of the Month - June 2013

We are a fun loving family that keeps getting bigger! My husband Thomas is a software designer and I work part time as a social worker. Our family consists of 4 daughters ages 14, 8, 4 and 1, and we have a son who is 11. We also have a newborn foster daughter.

Once we made the decision to become foster parents we fell in love with our first foster placement. We knew then that we could love any child as our own. Before the adoption of our first daughter we met with her birth mom and she choose us to raise her baby. We are so grateful to her every day for this amazing girl!

The one thing we have learned through the adoption process is that you don’t need to be “perfect” parents to adopt because there is no such thing! You just have to love kids.  Adoption does not have to be a difficult or expensive process.  It was extremely helpful to us to ask questions and advice from the families we knew that had adopted. We have been so blessed through adoption and cannot imagine our family with even one less family member.

Working with Mark Iverson and his firm has been a great experience.  Mark is very knowledgeable in adoption and family law and we felt we were in good hands working with him. As an adoptive father himself, we found comfort knowing he shared our feelings and had been where we were. His office and staff were warm and welcoming. We have chosen to work with Mark twice and would choose him again if we adopt in the future.

We were not able to have any more biological children and the adoption of our two children has enriched our lives beyond what we could ever imagine and made our lives complete.
